(John) Richard Sherman Jr., 78, of Fairfield, NJ and Spencer, MA died Thursday, March 31, 2022. Richard was a graduate of St. Peter's College, a Vietnam veteran, business owner and entrepreneur who also taught religious education at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, Fairfield. He had a love for history, politics, the outdoors, and animals especially dogs and horses. He was the devoted and loving husband of Linda; beloved father of Richard III, Stephen and Anna Marie; brother to Robert and Peter. He was predeceased by his wife Linda in 2007 and his brother Robert. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org would be appreciated. Rocco Petrillo, of Little Falls, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.
Rocco was born in Tricarico, Matera, Italy before coming to the United States in 1955. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Ana Maria Petrillo (nee Foresta). Loving father of Melissa DePiro and her husband Ron, Lori Petrillo and Tony, Rocco Petrillo Jr. and his wife Nicole. Cherished grandfather of Michael Osta, Lorena Osta, Olivia DePiro and Adriana Petrillo. He is also survived by his brother and sisters Celeste Cannataro and her husband Frank, Josephine Capo and Mickey, Frank Petrillo and his wife Hanna as well as many nieces and nephews and his buddy Jack. Rocco was a General Contractor and owner of Tricarico Construction, Inc. for 20 years where he worked with the Paterson Board of Education. He was also the owner of Cafe Italia on 21st Ave. in Paterson, NJ and sold the cafe in the mid 1980's. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Angels Church in Little Falls. He is predeceased by his father Pancrazio Petrillo, his mother Maria Petrillo (nee La Morte), his sister Joanne, his nephew Richie and his father-in-law Mario Foresta. Rocco enjoyed playing cards at the Roma Club in Woodland Park. He also enjoyed music and loved to play the piano/accordion every night. He will be deeply missed by so many. The family will receive their friends on Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 4-8 PM at Gaita Memorial Home, 154 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Little Falls. Envelopes will also be provided by the funeral home during visiting hours. Ralph John Morse, 63, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.
He was born on December 1, 1958 to Anthony and Eugenia Morse in Montclair, NJ and was a lifelong resident of Little Falls, NJ before moving to Wayne last year. Ralph was the beloved brother of Aurora (Morse) and James Iannelli and is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends here and in Italy who will miss him dearly. He was a graduate of Passaic Valley High School and has been retired from Sym's Corporation since 2012. As a former 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, Ralph was a faithful servant of the Lord. He loved his faith, his family and his country more than anything. Anyone who knew Ralph, knows he was an avid sports fan, who especially enjoyed Italian soccer and cheering on his favorite NY Yankees and Giants Football teams. He had a keen interest in anything related to NASA and the space program. His hobbies included listening to music, watching old TV shows and chatting with friends. We will miss his corny jokes and wonderful smile. A mass will be held at Our Lady of the Holy Angels Church, 473 Main Street, Little Falls at 9:30 am on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. Please meet directly at the church. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa after which family and friends are invited to a memorial luncheon to celebrate his life. Agnes R. Arena, 81, entered into eternal rest, March 2, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Philip Arena, Sr., she was raised in Jersey City and resided in Little Falls for the past 57 years.
An active member of Our Lady of the Holy Angels parish, she served as Eucharistic Minister and Coordinator for Homebound Ministry. She was also a member of the Secular Franciscan Order. Agnes was a devoted daughter, sister and wife. She was a loving and supportive mother and friend always willing to give of herself. All who knew her described Agnes as "the sweetest person" they ever met who always had a smile on her face and a kind word to share. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Anne Bishop, daughter Margaret Loveless and her husband Bob, and son Philip Arena, Jr. and his wife Kara. She is the cherished grandmother of Kevin Brandell and his fiance Monica Chan, Christopher Brandell, Nicholas Brandell, Rob Loveless, Amy Loveless, Michelle Loveless, Philip Arena III and Michael Arena. Agnes is the dear sister of Eugene Cribbin and Joseph Arena and a loving aunt to three generations of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 2 to 6 PM at Gaita Memorial Home, 154 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Little Falls. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of the Holy Angels Church, 473 Main Street, Little Falls. Please meet directly at church.
