Brian P. Nowak, 32, of Raritan Borough, formerly of Woodland Park, passed away on September 29, 2017. Beloved son of Deborah (Conte) Nowak and the late George Nowak, with whom he will be re-united. Joseph E., 72, of Lincoln Park, formerly of Totowa, passed away on September 26, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved son of Mary (nee De Falco) Milovich. Devoted brother of Mary Ann Milovich and her companion Charles De Haan. Born in Paterson, he lived in Totowa before moving to Lincoln Park twenty three years ago. He was a guitar teacher and the proprietor of Milo Music Studio, Lincoln Park for thirteen years. Previously he was the owner and director of Milo School of Computer Graphics, Totowa. As a musician he performed with various musical groups on the East Coast. The funeral mass will take place on Saturday, 10:00 am at Holy Angels R.C. Church, Little Falls. Please meet directly at church. The family will receive their friends Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Gaita Memorial Home, 154 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Little Falls.
Jeanne Bonnet Nowak passed away peacefully on September 17, 2017 at age 92. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Victor, and son, George. She was the mother of three children, Susanne, George and Lisa and the grandmother of five, great grandmother of five. She is survived by her two daughters after a rewarding and full life. A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Montclair, 67 Church Street, Montclair at 2:00 pm on October 14, 2017. Arrangements were entrusted with Gaita Memorial Home, Little Falls.
Nellie (nee Maas), 99, formerly of Prospect Park, passed away September 14, 2017. Loving wife of the late Johannes Van Leeuwen (1986). Caring mother of John Van Leeuwen and wife Terri, Richard Van Leeuwen and wife Joanne, Frank Van Leeuwen, Marie Ryan, and Mieke Maslanek. Adored grandmother of 17 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Nellie moved to Prospect Park from the Netherlands in February of 1953. Nellie then moved to Vernon where she resided for 17 years before residing to Lancaster, SC for a short time. She was a member of St. Paul's R.C. Church in Prospect Park. Her family will receive their friends September 21st from 3-7 pm at Gaita Memorial Home, 154 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Little Falls. A Funeral Mass will be held September 22nd at 9:30 am at St. James R.C. Church, 32 St. James Place, Totowa - please meet directly at church. Julian W., 94, of West Orange, passed away September 13, 2017. Loving husband of the late Kathryn M. Caplan (2012). Caring father of Nancy Dow and husband Jerry Hochman, Jonathan Caplan and wife Michele, Patricia Dow and husband Thomas Vultee, and Stuart Caplan and wife Barbara. Adored grandfather of David Hochman, Daniel Caplan, Courtney Seale, Ffej Caplan, Tristan Caplan, and Sarina Caplan. Beloved great-grandfather of six great-grandchildren. Julian is survived by many cherished nieces and nephews. Born in Houston, Texas, Julian moved and lived in West Orange for many years. Before his retirement, Julian was an Adjunct Professor at the Borough of Manhattan Community College where he taught Business Communications. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Montclair. Julian was not only an activist at Green Hill Senior Living, but in life. He was a Mark Twain impersonator and a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. Everyone was touched by his loving kindness. Adored uncle of Sue Cappello, Bill Davis, Daniel Cappello, John Fitzsimmons, Dee Kotelnik. Ed was a Navy veteran and fireman in North Haledon for many years. Ed's wishes were to not have viewing - he always said "Come and see me when I'm alive and not when I'm dead." He will truly be missed by many. Loving aunt of 1 niece and 2 nephews. She lived in Cedar Grove for 40 years before residing in Succasunna for the past 10 years. Elizabeth was a member of St. John's Church in Orange. Her family was her world and she will be greatly missed by many. Jimmy M., 72, of Hancock, NY, formerly of Little Falls, passed away May 22, 2017. Loving father of John Springstead and fiance Elizabeth, and Martin Springstead and wife Disa, and their mother Noreen Springstead. Caring grandfather of Alexis, Ryan, and Aubree. Beloved brother of Charolette Comley and husband David, and Lewis Springstead. Adored brother-in-law of Abby Springstead and Dave Sotelo. Jimmy is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Joyce Sotelo, brother, Richard Springstead, and his parents. Jimmy was born in Paterson and before his retirement was a truck driver. He enjoyed being in the company of his family and friends, being in the garden, or down by the river. His family will receive their friends for a memorial gathering on September 9th from 2-4 pm at Gaita Memorial Home, 154 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Little Falls.
