"We remember their love when they can no longer remember."
William H. Bakker passed peacefully on February 10th just hours before his 82nd birthday. Friends and relatives may visit on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 3 pm - 7 pm at Gaita Memorial Home, 154 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Little Falls. All are welcome to attend his funeral service on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 10 am at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa. Flowers are lovely, but kindly consider a donation in his memory to the good work of MSK Giving (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center). www.giving.mskcc.org Bill was born to the late William D. and Helen Bakker. He grew up in Paterson and after his schooling he met Margaret Hahner. The rest was history. They married in 1963 and started their family shortly after. They made their home in Totowa and after a few years of running his business, Park Ave. Maintenance; he took a job with Frito Lay and would forever be known to the neighborhood kids as the snack guy. No child got passed Bill without receiving a bag of crunchy chips. He retired after decades of dedicated service. Having grown up with a shore home, Bill was blessed to continue this tradition with his own family. The heartbeat of the Bakker family started many moons ago and remains within the walls of "209". Mountains of memories and tons of love fill the home to this day. It was by the shores of Seaside Heights where he found his true happiness. Bicycling on the boardwalk, heading out on the boat and fishing the salty sea. He found solace in the company of passer-byers, and treasured moments spent with his family. His family was truly his greatest accomplishment and "Grandpa" - his proudest title. We remain grateful for his love and know that his joyful spirit will never leave us. He leaves his wife Margaret of 60 years; his children Cheryl Bakker, Michelle Maietta and her husband Michael, and William C. "Billy" Bakker; his cherished grandchildren Cristina and Michael Maietta; his sister Doris Rascher; his grand pups Daisy and Scarlett; and many dear friends from Totowa down to Exit 82.

Bill was such a nice man and neighbor. He invited you to sit on his porch and chat. He would always give my pups treats.
