Gatch, Rex, 54 of North Caldwell, NJ suddenly passed away on July 8, 2020. He is survived by his wife Johanna, daughter Violet, brother Eric Gatch and his wife Lynn, nephew Harrison Gatch, niece Madeleine Gatch, in-laws John and Helen Cap and sister-in-laws Stephanie Sackariasen and Andrea Kruger and their families. He is pre-deceased by his mother Anita Donada Gatch and father Donald E. Gatch.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, Rex moved to London, UK when he was three and then to Malta. Rex attended Fernden Preparatory School, Seaford College, Dundee University and graduated from South Bank University, London. Rex loved showing his daughter Violet his "hometown" of London and introducing her to his UK friends. He was a devoted Arsenal fan. Rex met his wife Johanna in Hoboken 18 years ago and it was love at first sight. They were married in 2004 and were thrilled to welcome Violet to their family in 2009. Rex was an attentive father and had an extremely close relationship with Violet. Rex's passions included reading, gardening, cooking and pool. Known as "The Vest" by his pool mates he loved the leagues and tournaments he played in and cherished all the friendships he made. His quick wit and sense of humor was enjoyed by his friends, family and co-workers. Rex loved his profession as an environmental engineer. Many of his colleagues became his close friends and confidantes. Arrangements are private to the family.
