Evelyn was born in Paterson in 1934 and lived most of her life in Little Falls. She was a 1952 graduate of Passaic Valley High School and always supported the Green team. She was pre-deceased by her father Russell Van Natta, her brother Russell Edward Van Natta who was killed in the Korean Conflict, and her younger sister Claire Gaita (Van Natta) of Virginia.
Evelyn is survived by her sister Jean Harland (Van Natta) of Little Falls and three nieces, Beth, Robbin and Jill Harland all of New Jersey, and three nephews Sam, Russ and Joe Gaita of Virginia. She was a beloved great aunt of 16 and a great great aunt of 13. She worked as a secretary and office manager for Curtiss Wright, Bobst Champlain and Frank Deutsch before retiring. Evelyn spent many years cheering on her nieces and nephews at different sporting events and is fondly remembered, by many, for taking the winning team for ice cream in her 1968 Pontiac convertible. Outside of spending time with her family her other pastime favorites were reading, doing search-a-word, horseracing, riding Merry-go-rounds, and watching Jeopardy. She loved to bowl and was on many bowling leagues throughout her lifetime. She was an active bowler and secretary of her league until the pandemic closed the alley's. For many years she was a fixture at all the voting polls in town. One of the special joys in her life were her cats and all cats. She fed strays and helped rescue many others over the years. Services will be private at the family's request. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Clifton Animal Shelter, 900 Clifton Ave., Clifton, NJ 07013 or www.cliftonanimalshelter.com in Evelyn's name.

Our sincere sympathy to the Harland and Gaita families. So many memories of Aunt Eve. She attended (and participated in) birthday parties for her nieces children...and watched my Daughters grow up! We enjoyed many years of bowling on leagues with her. She was one of a kind and we will surely miss her. Rest in peace Aunt Eve,,,
