Carolee Hammond-Barbaro, (62), of New Hope, Pennsylvania, passed away on the evening of April 1, 2024 peacefully in her home, known as Toad Hall, a historic property listed on the National Historic Trust.
Carolee was the beloved wife of Anthony Barbaro for the past five years. She was the dear sister and friend of Glenn Hammond, of Phoenix, AZ. Carolee was predeceased by her loving parents Charles W. Hammond who passed away in 1989 and Joan Hammond (nee Ditinick) who passed away in 1994. Survived by countless friends, neighbors & members of the New Hope community, 1st, 2nd & 3rd cousins, and an extended family by marriage. Born on May 23, 1961 to Charles and Joan Hammond in Paterson, New Jersey, Carolee lived in Wayne, New Jersey, attended Wayne Hills High School before moving to Yardley, Pennsylvania where she completed High School at Pennsbury. Carolee obtained her degree at Temple University and then moved New Hope, Pennsylvania where she has resided for the past 33 years. Carolee was an Occupational Therapist for Trenton State Psychiatric Hospital for 32 years where she devoted herself to helping countless patients and making a difference in the lives of many. Carolee was raised in the beliefs of St. John's Russian Orthodox Church in Little Falls, New Jersey, founded by her maternal grandfather and other family members of their generation. Carolee bred and showed Irish Setters, often placing Best in Show. Carolee was a passionate art collector and supporter of the arts, both local and major artists. She also enjoyed her horses and raced Little Leroy. Those she cherished were as diverse and eclectic as herself, her interests, and things she held dear. Carolee was a generous and fun-loving host to those she loved and enjoyed bringing together for both simple and elaborate gatherings at Toad Hall, sometimes even into the wee hours of the morning. Carolee was accomplished in creating beautiful landscapes at her home, mixing the usual with the special, as she did in all things throughout her extraordinary and beautiful life. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Bucks County SPCA, in honor of your love and friendship for Carolee. Donations can be made online at www.buckscountyspca.org or by phone at 215-794-7425 or by mail at Bucks County SPCA, P.O. Box 277, Lahaska, PA 18931.
