Robert "Red" Felix, 85, of Totowa passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 12, 2020. Born in Jamaica, Queens and raised in North Haledon, Robert has been a Totowa resident for 58 years. As a teenager, he was a stock clerk for Meyer Brothers in Paterson where he met his future wife Sonia, an elevator operator. They married and together they raised their loving family. Robert proudly served his country aboard the Navy Minesweeper USS Herald, stationed in the Mediterranean Sea. He was a career truck driver for many years with Hemingway Transport, and later for Red Star Trucking. He enjoyed fishing, camping, driving, fixing anything and everything, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Wayne.
Robert was pre-deceased by his parents Paul and Frieda (Schmidt) Felix, his wife of 49 years Sonia (Smarsh), and brothers Paul and Clifford Felix. He is survived by his son David of Rutherford, daughters Cheryl (Carlo) Spinella of Totowa, and Susan (Joe) Addesso of Kinnelon, his sister Dorothy (Ernie) Bagehorn of Wanaque, his grandchildren Erica (James) Morrison, Douglas (Alexandria) Spinella, Brandon Spinella, Chelsie Addesso, and Kaitlyn Addesso, as well as his cherished great grandchildren Theodore and Rosie Morrison. He also leaves behind his nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and his many friends.
Due to the current health emergency, funeral services are private. A Memorial Celebration of his Life will take place in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations to the following charities may be made in his memory:
Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation: 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 or https://tunnel2towers.org

“Red” as I know him was the sweetest, sincere, loving man I had the pleasure to call Cousin!!! Everything happened so fast, it’s still hard to believe! You can tell he just loved his family and held family with such high regard. I loved when Red and Dave would come over to my house and we would eat, drink and talk about the old days with my aunt and uncles. He would always leave saying.... I love you!!! Red.... I love you too. You will be missed tremendously and I believe that you are reunited with your beautiful wife Sonia, my mom and your siblings. I’m positive they greeted you up there with open arms!!!! ❤️

Dad #2...he always treated me like a daughter and I always loved him like a father. I am so happy I was able to spend some time and talk with him at Doug & Alexandria's wedding last July. When I left he told me he loved me and I said he same to him. I will cherish that forever! I know Mom #2 was waiting with open arms to greet you. RIP Dad #2
