Sass, Jr. John, 91, passed away on July 6, 2021, a Little Falls resident since 1964. John was born in Buck Run, PA to John and Mary (Goffa) Sass. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Sally (nee Burruano) in 1993, and a his sister Ann (Laychock). He is survived by his three sons John J. and Lynn of Little Falls, Michael and wife Rose of Hanahan, SC and Steven and wife Meg of Independence, NJ., his brother Joseph Sass and wife Joan of State College, PA and three grandchildren, David, Stephanie and Michaela. John is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews and his special companion Angela Mazza.
John was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Golden Age Club of Little Falls. He was a graduate of Cass Township High School Class of 1948 in PA. He originally worked for Hammersley Paper Co. of Garfield, NJ and retired from Fritzsche, Dodge & Olcott (BASF) of Clifton as a maintenance supervisor in 1991. Visiting will be from 4-8 PM on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Gaita Memorial Home, 154 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Little Falls. Parastas will be held at 6 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 10 AM at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 217 President Street, Passaic. Please meet directly at church. Entombment to follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi. In lieu of flowers, donations to Morristown Medical Hospice and Palliative Care, 100 Madison Street, Simon 3, Morristown, NJ 07960 would be appreciated. Envelopes will be provided during visiting hours for your convenience.
